Fredericton hosts provincial meeting industry trade show

Fredericton (April 8, 2014) Thursday April 10, 2014 has been designated “National Meetings Industry Day” by Meeting Planners International (MPI), with events being held across Canada to celebrate the importance of meetings and conventions to the economy, and to recognize stellar contributions to the industry’s success.

To honour this day, the Fredericton Convention Centre will be the host venue for a full day of meeting industry and business events.

                9:00 – 11:30am  Advantage New Brunswick Meeting Planner Showcase

                11:30 - 2:00pm   National Meetings Industry Day luncheon

                4:00 – 7:00pm    Tri-City Chamber Business Expo

The Advantage New Brunswick Meetings Planner Showcase features more than 30 exhibitors from across the province representing industry partners such as hotels, meeting venues and destination management organizations, who will meet with meeting and event planners from associations, government, corporations and not-for-profit organizations. This biannual event brings together event planners and partners to exchange information, best practices and to discuss new trends in the industry.

More than 100 delegates from across New Brunswick are expected to attend the Advantage NB Showcase.

At noon, Fredericton will join Halifax to host 1 of 8 simultaneous events across Canada, as part of Meetings Planners International (MPI) National Meetings Industry Day. As partners in the MPI Atlantic Chapter, the Fredericton event will be held in conjunction with members in Halifax, and the two events will be video-conferenced together, sharing keynote speaker Joel Sweeney on the topic: “You are the voice of the Meetings and Events Industry. Is your voice being heard?"

Three exciting announcements will also be made, including Canada’s national industry economic impact, a  presentation of the Influence Award, and MPI Atlantic Chapter’s Supplier of the Year, Planner of the Year, and Festival of the Year finalists for  MPI Atlantic’s annual awards gala which will be held in June.

From 4:00pm – 7:00pm, the annual Tri City Chamber Business Expo will feature more than 90 exhibitors from across the province in the convention centre’s ballroom, with an expected attendance of more than 300 New Brunswick business people.
