Progress magazine names Fredericton Convention Centre “Best Large Event Space”

Best of the East issue released today

Fredericton (May 1, 2013): The Fredericton Convention Centre has been recognized by Progress magazine as the Best of the East in the Best Large Event Space in Atlantic Canada category for 2013. The award, announced in the current issue of Progress, is a readership-driven guide to some of the hottest places to eat, work, shop and relax in Atlantic Canada. Nominees and winners are chosen as a result of readership feedback received by Progress Magazine.

The list can be found on the magazine’s web site, www.progressmedia.ca/progress-magazine

“We are very pleased to receive this recognition from our clients and peers in the business community,” says Fredericton Convention Centre general manager Cathy Pugh. “We are in pretty great company in our category, and are tremendously proud of our fellow Fredericton business winners.”

Fredericton’s Cedar Tree Café, Robert Simmonds Clothing and Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge were best in their respective categories, while the blue door, Room to Remember, Orange Sprocket, Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival and Avalon Salon Spa also received recognition of their excellence.

“We congratulate our fellow award winners in Fredericton,” says Pugh. “It’s great to let the rest of Atlantic Canada know about the business gems we have here in our capital city.”

In the recent announcement regarding the Fredericton Convention Centre,  Progress states that “From the welcoming smiles of staff members as soon as  visitors enter the state-of-the-art facility, to the employees who go out of their way to help them meet their needs, FCC staff has East Coast hospitality down to an art and a science.”

“We are one of very few large event spaces that has our administration offices visible as soon as you enter the building”, says Pugh. “Treating clients and visitors with the utmost in Maritime hospitality is one of our core values, and this award is great validation of our efforts.”

The Best of the East designation is an early achievement for a facility that has been open for just two years, and is a feather-in-the -cap for the staff, board members, stakeholders and Rendez-Vous Fredericton meeting partners.
