Fredericton (March 6, 2012) – The City of Fredericton and the New Brunswick Foundation for the Arts (NBFA) will officially unveil a piece of public art at the Fredericton Convention Centre on Friday, March 9 at 11 am.
A ceremony will be held for invited guests and the public for the official first showing of the work by local artist Craig Schneider which represents his vision of natural beauty and splendour of the Saint John River. The large scale, hand-made ceramic-tile wall mural is featured on a curved wall on the second floor in the Pointe Sainte Anne foyer.
The artwork is the end product of a $10,000 award the NBFA bestowed upon the city of Fredericton for its Municipality of the Arts of Year Award back in 2009. The city then matched the cash award and commissioned the artwork for the convention centre.
The event will start at 11 am and the artist will be on site until 1 pm for a casual meet and greet. All are welcome to attend.
